What is Signature Series Technology?

The patented Signature Series Technology provides smooth operation and high precision and accuracy in each step the motor takes. The mechanical design is the bulk of what makes these motors operate with low resonance.

What is the advantage of using Signature Series?

Typically, a Signature Series Stepper Motor user can expect anywhere from 10-40% less resonance being produced. Although, as with all step motors, performance enhancement will vary from application to application. Some common applications where this technology has proven to be extremely helpful are in surveillance cameras, medical pumps, printing, and semiconductor. In the charts below, we can see how a Lin engineering 0.9 º motor with Signature Series Technology compares to the industry standard 0.9 º stepper motor without Signature Series Technology.

How Does Signature Series Technology Work?

The design creates double the detent positions (un-energized cogging) in the standard stepper. When doubled, the amount of torque or drag that each detent position has is decreased by half, thus creating a smoother motor during operation. Many times, when you design for one aspect, you suffer in another. For steppers, trying to get smoother and accurate motion will then suffer in torque. Inherently, this technology will decrease the overall torque performance, but many products that contain the Signature Series Technology also incorporate other design aspects to gain back that lot torque. It’s a win-win situation where we can finally provide customers with good torque and excellent smoothness and accuracy.
